Leon’s death was a tremendous shock for us all. How lovely he didn’t suffer, but terrible for Jennefer in whose home he died, and for all of us who knew him. For as long as anyone can remember, Leon was a loyal and faithful member of St George’s Church. In some ways he was quite difficult to get close to and found relationships hard. But he was happiest when serving his fellow men; he liked to help people. He really has had a life of service. He looked after his Mum until her death six years ago and nursed her at home. He has spent time working with St John’s Ambulance Service, with Lions International, with “The Oaks” at Wecock for whom he did charity walks. At St George’s he has been a verger, a reader, a lay assistant, keeper of the flag, and of course every Sunday he rang the communion bell. He has also in the past been a contributor to St George’s News. Leon’s life has been sad at times, challenging and lonely, but has been a life of service, and God has now welcomed Leon into heaven. |
