Two years ago we started the St George’s Film Club. Since its inception we have shown a film regularly every month to our stalwart band of film addicts. Recent films have included Gone with the Wind, Brief Encounter, Billy Elliot, Iris, and Phantom of the Opera. The charge is £1 a time and this includes a mid session cup of tea and biscuit. Sadly the numbers have not increased as we originally hoped they would which has not provided us with the income to improve the hardware to enable easier viewing. Currently we simply use a wide screen television whereas we had hoped by now to be on a large Cinema size screen!! However we plod on hoping for an increase in numbers and a consequent increase in our income and thus our quality. If you fancy one afternoon a month in a nice warm hall with friends taking in a movie, as they say, then why not come along and join us. You would be very welcome. The forthcoming feature is always advertised on the church hall notice board. Tony Rice-Oxley |
