Parochial Church Council - highlights

Interregnum

The PCC has appointed Richard Spurgeon and Barbie Lloyd as Parish Representatives on the Committee that will appoint the new incumbent. The other members of the Committee are the Bishop and the Area Dean.

It had been expected that a short list of candidates would be compiled and that these candidates would visit the Parish on 29th November, but this visit did not take place, as none of the initial candidates was deemed suitable.

The vacancy is now being advertised and it is unlikely there will be any further developments until the New Year.

Income

Funds received recently include £3,000 from Waterlooville Music Festival, £200 Bonus Ball, £300 for use of the church for elections, £400 from Havant Borough Council towards installation of CCTV and £1,000 from the Social Committee.

Also £50 from Southern Co-Op Events Team, and £135 from Margaret Deal’s coffee morning, gift aid of £869.14, and Liturgical gifts of £71.92.

The budget for next year has been approved and forecasts a deficit of around £7,000. The budget includes a £5,000 increase in Parish Share.

The shortfall will need to be addressed with an appeal to the congregation for increased giving.

Fabric

A quote has been obtained to recover the kneelers, and this is being further investigated.

The font is now repaired and has been re-dedicated.

Following the vandalism of the Font and Paschal Candle, in June of this year it was decided to investigate the practicality and cost of installing a CCTV security system. We have received a generous offer from In View Systems of Waterlooville to install a four-camera system at cost.

It has been decided to add three further items to the Faculty Application:

installation of exterior light to illuminate the pathway between the Church and Church Hall steps

Reprofile pew kneelers to reduce risk of injury to ankles

Replace worn/torn blue upholstery to kneelers with new red cover vinyl.

The faculty application has now been agreed in principle.

Hall

A price increase has been approved, effective from 1st January 2018. A drop down screen has been fitted for the cinema which is also available for general use. There was a contribution from the National Trust.

The woodwork around the front windows of the Hall is in a very bad state and it is proposed to replace with UPVC.  The cost is around £4,000 and the work will be carried out shortly.

Sheilah Hall will be stepping down as hall bookings secretary in the new year. Fiona Ross has agreed to take over.
