Ride and Stride

On Saturday 14th September, our church will be opening its doors to energetic folk from various churches around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight who are taking part in the Ride and Stride annual event which raises money to support the upkeep of churches in our County. Last year nearly 400 churches in the area took part in Ride and Stride and, despite the weather, over £65,000 was raised through sponsorship and donations.

Cyclists or walkers can nominate a church of their own choice to receive half the money they raise, with the other half going to the Trust to be used in grants to restore our church buildings.

In the past, this event has been supported by St George’s both in terms of welcoming cyclists as they go on their route and also with a small group of cyclists who visit as many churches as they can, receiving sponsorship from family and friends. For those that are happier with something less strenuous there are some churches closer together which can be visited at a more leisurely pace.

Why not book the date in your diary and dig out the bike or the walking boots and get in training.
