Visit My Mosque Day

On Saturday 2nd March, we were invited to the “Visit My Mosque Day” at the Al Mahdi Centre, Titchfield.

We were welcomed on arrival and then, after leaving our shoes in small “pigeon holes” we signed in, and were then free to wander around the stalls with their displays and information on many aspects of Muslim life and beliefs.

Refreshments, some familiar, some not, were enjoyed and later an extract from the Quran was read and translated, and a young man demonstrated prayer, learnt by heart.

A very interesting and rather moving experience even though I was unable to see much of the screened translation.

This afternoon was part of a National initiative providing an insight into the Muslim religion which I found both illuminating and informative.

Sunday 14th April,  Palm Sunday, was extra busy at St George’s. We met outside the Heroes Pub, processed with Priests, Servers, Choir and Band, plus a donkey who we had “borrowed” from the Donkey Sanctuary at Hayling Island.

Bertie enjoyed a breakfast of carrots before we set off down the Precinct. He surprised us by joining in the hymns - whether he was enjoying the singing or objecting and this was “donkey speak” for “please be quiet!” I’m not sure.

On reaching the Church we rejoined the rest of the congregation for the remainder of the service.

Following this was our Annual Parochial Church Meeting and then we transferred to the nearby hall for our Parish Lunch - this year tomato soup, followed by a selection of cold meats and salad, gateau and cheesecakes and tea and coffee.
