African Child Trust

Since 2001 members of St George’s Congregation have supported the education of African children through the African Child Trust.

Currently, there are three children being supported, in Nigeria and Tanzania. And these are the latest reports on their progress.

Janeth Makacha Mgeta is now in Form 3 at Mbuye Secondary School and is doing well with good health, attendance and performance and is striving towards her dream of becoming a nurse.

Abedinego Michael Mateba has now returned to his first year studying his BA with Education at the University of Dar es Salaam after having to postpone his studies for one term after suffering from Tuberculosis. After returning to University he has been dedicated to his studies and continues to demonstrate his strong commitment to the teaching profession.

Aliyah Arogundade passed her junior school exams earlier this year and has moved up to SS1 and is performing well in her studies and enjoys cooking with her mother and reading. The support from African Child Trust has made a significant difference to her whole family.

To participate in the scheme, please see Jane Cook. The usual donation is £20 per year.
